Introducing ECONYL®
IMAGE: ECONYL®
In 2022, we introduced a recycled fabric called ECONYL® into our collection.
Fashion is one of the biggest contributors to pollution on earth. From production and manufacturing to packaging and delivery, the fashion industry is responsible for a lot of the waste and toxins. So what can be done?
- Swimwear made from recycled materials
- Sustainable swimwear
Swimwear made from recycled materials
A key factor in reducing the environmental footprint in fashion is to change how products are made and what they are made of.
When we first launched Simpl Swim, we opted for a nylon/spandex blend fabric - a standard fabric used in production of swimwear. But as we learned more about sustainability, we also discovered that nylon is made from fossil fuels and spandex is made of various chemicals.
Our next mission? Find a sustainable fabric.

ECONYL®, is a regenerated nylon fabric (78% recycled nylon and 22% elastane) derived from pre and post industrial waste like fishnets, fabric scraps and carpet flooring, found in the ocean. Learn more about the ECONYL® regeneration system in the video below.
In 2022, we introduced ECONYL® into our South Coast collection and will be opting to use recycled materials in all future collections.
